Mokita Co-founder and Director Alisha is a committed advocate for anti-discriminatory practice and equity in Higher Education and has a wealth of experience promoting diversity, self-actualisation, and empowerment to individuals and groups.
Alisha strongly advocates for racial equality at the forefront of the Higher Education agenda, driving increased scrutiny from students, staff, and regulatory bodies. Her keen understanding of structural and institutional racism within Higher Education Institutions underscores her commitment to removing barriers and supporting the success of racially minoritised students. Along with Elli, she has published a number of research papers showcasing Mokita’s dedication to evidence-based education.
With a background in implementing culturally appropriate wellbeing services, Alisha has been a Senior Race Equality Consultant in Higher Education since 2018. She understands exactly how to craft strategies that foster diversity, equity, and inclusion and has extensive experience collaborating with university departments, faculty, and student to evolve policies and practices to give representation and opportunities to underrepresented groups.
In her various roles, Alisha has led events, designed inclusive curriculum toolkits, and served as a Race Equality Board member in South Gloucestershire, and was awarded a Top 100 Rising Star Award in Education and Academia.
